Just a heads up, Bob Costas will sit down in Studio 42 with Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, and Tony Perez this Friday, December 3rd, at 8:00 PM on MLB Network.
It looks like I'll have to DVR it since I'll be at Redsfest.

I'll have my DVR set. I am assuming Rose couldn't do this since he is banned from baseball or he couldn't get of an engagement at a casino?

Don't doubt that a bit. It's too bad. He could give a great oral history of the build up of the Big Red Machine since he was part of it from the start.

Let's keep our eyes on the ball here guys. It is just as possible that the interview if for living HOF members of the BRM. Why not assume Davy or George or Ken are not there for the same reason? Pete deserves alot of what people dish out......but man it gets old.
Let's play two!!!
Davey, George and Ken aren't in the same league that Pete was in regards to the BRM. Pete was one of the "Big 4" and those guys weren't.
My assertion is purely speculation but considering Pete's past history where money rules his world, I don't think my speculation is that far off.

I would guess that the big elephant in the room will be discussed at somepoint.
Some people play baseball. Baseball plays Jay Bruce.
From Jamie Ramsey's blog:
http://ramsey.mlblogs.com/archives/2...ecember-3.htmlThroughout the hour-long interview filmed in Cooperstown, New York in July 2010, Bench, Morgan and Perez discuss playing for the late Hall of Fame Manager Sparky Anderson, winning the 1975 World Series against the Boston Red Sox in seven games, where the Reds' dynasty of the 1970's ranks in Major League Baseball history, and if former teammate Pete Rose should be a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Thanks for pointing this out OBM. My DRV is all set!!
DVR was set last night to record (thx, OBM). If not for RZ, I'd miss these important things. Look forward to watching it.
This was a fantastic show. Most I've enjoyed Red's baseball since 1976.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
My thought after it was over: "This stuff never gets old." I am still thankful that I had the privilege of growing up watching historic baseball played for several years.
"Rounding 3rd and heading for home, good night everybody"
Thoughts:
1. If you missed it and have MLB Network, I suspect they'll continue to play this the next several days (check MLB network's site). They've already replayed it at least once.
2. I enjoyed it, but I imagine at 2-hour car ride with Johnny Bench would be insufferable. Dude didn't shut up or let Tony Perez get a word in edgewise. He dominated the conversation constantly.
3. I suspect Costas would have loved to have Pete there with the other 3 (and Sparky for that matter). However, it was taped July 24, 2010 at the main hotel in Cooperstown. Pete wasn't invited to the event and Sparky (who probably was invited as a HOF'er hiimself - note that the upcoming Ozzie Smith interview will be along with Whitey Herzog) had dementia by that point.
4. Love the story about Bench catching the ball bare-handed when the soft-tosser in the Crosley era kept shaking him off. I'm surprised this scene didn't make it into Bull Durham.
5. I loved seeing the guys busting on Joe (perhaps the best Red ever) and Pete (one of the best Reds ever) about their weak throwing arms. You don't see Joe getting brought back down to earth very often by fellow athletes.
4.
