Re: Who is Redszone's #22 prospect?

I know he won't win yet, but I'm voting for Cody Puckett. He can play 2B or OF and OPSed 850 this season playing primarily second, a potentially huge value at that position. That power looks, at this point, like a 20-25 homer bat in the majors in the 270/350/460 vein. (While that OBP looks too good to be true according to his career numbers, one really poor year at Dayton skews his overall stats.) Too, he has some solid speed numbers (38 of 43 over the past two years) to boost his value.

Puckett does have some prospect pimples, which is why he's down in the 20s and not in the Top 10. His arm is weak and his range is below par for a 2B, meaning he may have to move to the OF. Because his arm is weak, he's going to be a LF, rather than CF or RF-- if he can't play second, that is. Too, he's less than heralded as a prospect, so he'll really have to hammer from this point on to attract interest.

But he's gotten over that High A bump and played extremely well in the process. Another 850-900 OPS season, this time in AA Carolina, should move him up the rankings and at least at the periphery of the Cincinnati 2B options.

Weird. I voted for Correa but it registered for Harry Reid.

Good call. And Matt Fairel would be due, I'd think.

    Thanks, OBM.

Re: Who is Redszone's #22 prospect?

Voted for Felix Perez again. he doesn't have the upside of the others, but I think he's got a shot to make the team as a left handed bat out of spring training. Definently a few ahead of him, but a trade or two, or a few injuries could have him as the 5th outfielder when the team breaks camp. Either way, I'm interested to see what he does over a full season this year.
