I found these stats on a JC College website. The school is in Manhattan, and the catcher's name is Frey Sosa. Not really going out on limb that it's the same person. I don't think JC College Baseball in the northeast is all that competitive, though.

when I used to scout and recruit players out of those kinds of schools there were lots of good players but very little pitching....obviously with pitching being at such a premium the better talent goes to the large schools and conferences unless they can't meet the academic req's....or unless they get drafted and sign of course.
I guess I don't see a big deal out of this. Maybe the kid paid about 5k to the trainer over the last few years. Or maybe that 5k is "technically" not out of the signing bonus. Things get lost in the translation.
I don't see a big deal about charging someone $300/month to attend a baseball academy either. There's kids that spend more than that on music/art/dance/etc to chase the dream.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob
