Larkin honored to be on HOF ballot

Here's a nice article from mlb.com about Barry Larkin.

What percentage of the vote do you think Larkin will receive?

upper 60's low 70's this season. He'll get in next year I believe.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

    Hope you are right.

I was thinking Barry might get anywhere between 55% and 65% this year, then be voted in next year.

Alomar and Larkin should be locks this year. Larkin's constant exposure on MLB Network can do nothing but help him.

Agreed. He'll go up, but will have to wait at least until next year. He wasn't dominant enough offensively nor accrued enough counting stats to sway the lazier voters who aren't willing to do extra homework on the players they didn't cover.

Alomar and Blyleven (finally!) will get in, leaving more room for Larkin to be discussed and considered in 2011.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I agree but ya never know how the BBWAA will vote.

This is how Stan McNeal of The Sporting News voted.

This "player in waiting" stuff is stupid. If a guy is worthy of being in the Hall of Fame in 2013, then he was worthy of being in the Hall of Fame in 2010.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

We both know the members of the BBWAA often say and do stupid things.
