    2011 Opening day lineup

Okay it's the beginning of Jan, so lets do some early guessing here. If asked to write out the lineup card YOU believe Dusty will post on that Thursday game vs. the Brewers whom will be on it, where will they be playing and what will the batting order be....

    Here is mine:

    Scott P - Leadoff - playing LF
    Edgar R - Batting 2nd - playing SS
    Joey V - Batting 3rd - Playing 1st
    Scott R. - Batting 4th - Playing 3rd
    Brandon P - Batting 5th - Playing 2nd
    Jay B - Batting 6th - Playing RF
    Drew S - Batting 7th - Playing CF
    Ramon H - Batting 8th - Playing C
    Bronson A - Batting 9th - Pitching.

PLEASE NO! The top two would be a disaster.

Remember Hanigan is usually the guy who catches for Arroyo. So pending on who you believe will start Opening Day, decides who will also be catching Opening Day.

Here's what I'd like to see, with the possibility of swapping Stubbs and Phillips. It's really all about OBP in that number 1 slot and it's too early in Stubbs' career for me to get a definitive feel for his ability to get on base. I like what I saw toward the end of last season, though, so I'm hoping it carries over.

    1. Stubbs CF
    2. Bruce RF
    3. Votto 1B
    4. Rolen 3B
    5. Heisey LF
    6. Phillips 2B
    7. Hanigan C
    8. Janish SS
    9. Arroyo P

I wouldn't want to put Jay Bruce's power in the 2-hole spot.

    Re: 2011 Opening day lineup

Is this a prediction, or what we would do?

If vs a righty, what I would do.

    1) Votto
    2) Rolen
    3) Bruce
    4) Gomes
    5) Phillips
    6) Stubbs or Renteria
    7) Arroyo
    8) Hannigan Stubbs
    9) Janish Hannigan

I like the idea of getting Votto an extra at bat every 3 games, I like the idea of putting a pitcher on the defensive by worrying about a homerun the very first guy and even more, I like having somebody start the game on base (over 40% for his career), after the first inning he's back to being the RBI machine.

Votto at LO? Not a chance, he is your 3 guy. Would you have Batted Barry Bonds or Mark Mcgwire lead off?
