1 Good thing about the Fred Lewis Signing

The signing presumably eliminates the possibility that the Reds sign Scott Podsednik. The team also officially announced its one-year deal with Edgar Renteria.

I will believe that once Scott has signed with another team...

It also minimizes the possibility that the Reds are going to have to part with one of the young arms in exchange for a rent-a-left-fielder. So they have that going for them. Which is nice.

Maybe Fred Lewis will be our Cinderella story.

Its in the hole! Its in the hole!
"Another note: Gomes told me yesterday that Rolen and Cabrera congratulate teammates for 10-pitch ABs that end in outs, and for sacrificing themselves to get runners over. Gomes said hes never been on a team that did that, not even the World Series Rays." -PD

I still want Lewis to get some starts vs. right-handers when he gets healthy. Dude has been slightly-above average for his entire career in that platoon split, which is more than you can say for Gomes or Heisey at this point, although the jury's still out on Heisey.
