    Reds Sign Cueto 4yr Extension!

The Reds and right-handed pitcher Johnny Cueto have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $27MM, tweets Enrique Rojas of espndeportes.com.

    What does everything think?
I believe it's a good deal and it looks like the Reds are locking up a good starter with still some upside!

Reds may actually be the most active team in the offseason after all.

According to John Fay (consider the source). Per his twitter...

"ESPNdeportes is reporting #Reds and Cueto have agreed to 4-year deal. Reds say deal is not done."

This is smart, get your budget set for the next 3-5 years so you know where and what you can add and need to subtract, good move.

My first reaction was of sheer surprise, but after looking into his past seasons, WAR, young age, and overall skillset, I've come to really like this deal. Good job, Bob/Walt.

It will be done soon. Cueto just needs to pass his physical i'm sure. Overall good deal though.

Yeah, I'm starting to like these moves.

I was reading an article about Jose Arrendondo today and I gotta give the Reds props for taking a low risk chance on him too.

The bullpen could be surprisingly good this year to go with our starting pitching.

I actually think Walt will make some other deals after all the arbitration guys are taken care of and they know what payroll will be.

This is brilliant. I am a happy Reds fan. I think they should try to lock up Volquez long term as well. Buy low. Can't be more excited about the Reds pitching staff.

How does this the lenght of this deal compare to his arbitration years? Does this lock him up for any longer, or just set the terms for he hears he's already commited to the Reds?

The four years covers all three of his arb years plus his first season as a free agent.

It looks like now that it is official, an option year for his second free agent year is included as well, although I have not seen how much that will cost yet.

Just about the whole team is locked up without arbitration for the next three years due to this offseason. That is a HUGE success, in my opinion.
