Mets to host 2013 All Star game.

Will the Reds ever host one?

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...ame/index.html

The Mets will host the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field, people with knowledge of the situation told SI.com.

While the decision isn't being characterized as "official," plans are already in the works.

The team has not hosted the All-Star Game since 1964, the longest drought of any franchise.

Mets owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon dropped a bombshell yesterday by announcing they seek limited partners to buy 20-25 percent of the team in the wake of what they characterized as "uncertainty" following the lawsuit filed against them by Irving Picard, the trustee liquidating Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities Inc.

aaahhhh 1988 when I was the old age of 1....Seriously though NYC just hosted one in 2008. By the time GABP host one it will be 15 years old.

I went to Citi Field this past Summer. It's a nice enough park, but they gotta get rid of all the crap beyond the outfield wall.

There are 30 teams, to expect Cincinnati of all places to get it more than every 30 years would not be wise. Players would much rather go to Cali, NY, AZ, etc. The Marlins will probably get one soon with their park.

Having the game in Yankee stadium a few years back is irrelevant to it being at Citi Field. It's completely different season ticket holder bases and organizations getting rewarded. The Mets haven't hosted in almost 50 years.

The Mets may not be in existence by 2013.

    umm, ok

The Mets were the third-highest-valued team in the major leagues at $858 million, behind the Yankees ($1.6 billion) and Boston Red Sox ($870 million), Forbes magazine said in April 2010. It said the Metsí value had dropped 6 percent from 2009, with $268 million in revenue and operating income of $26.2 million.

If Fred and Jeff can get $858 million for the Mets (good luck with that) that will still leave them a bit short of the billion Picard is seeking to recover on behalf of the Madoff victims.

I would love to see the Reds have it in 2019 to celebrate 150 years of baseball. If they do it up right, it could be a signature event for MLB and the city...

That's actually the first baseline, but the point stands.

And it was wise for MLB to choose $hittsburgh in a 12 year span for the ASG? That depressing dumphole got to host the 94 AND 06 versions of the game. Boy it must have been all those season ticket holders that support their successful franchise!

You should make a trip up to Pittsburgh, PNC Park is the best ballpark in the country. They probably worked out a deal with MLB when they built it that they would get an ASG there soon. The Reds/ city of Cincinnati was probably too dumb to do that before building GABP. The Marlins and Nationals supposedly are are next in line for the national league.

I've had the misfortune of traveling to $hittsburgh and watching a game at PNC, the backdrop of the depressing dumphole and watching the Pirates absolutely ruined it for me.

You would think GABP would be one of the top choices just for the Home Run Derby! Everybody seems to think of it as an HR Park.
