    I'm not going to jump the gun on worrying about this. Whether it's a problem depends on how they do it, how often they do it, and how much they do it in the future. So, it's impossible to know right now if this could end up being a problem down the road.

    This makes me a bit queasy, though, with all the talent coming through the pipeline, a couple deferred payments make some sense. (The LTCs given Cueto, Votto, and Bruce help negate that somewhat as a future problem, though Volquez could be a fly in the ointment, so to speak, as he progresses toward a big payday or two.)

    On another note, did anyone else miss this?
    Players have been willing to take less money up front - Aaron Harang and Arroyo had part of the their salaries deferred last year. That will add $4 million to this year's budget.
