    NFL Draft Order

To all the NFL draft gurus out there:

I have a question on the draft order. We all know how they do the 1st round but how does draft order vary in subsequent rounds?

Let's use the Seattle Seahawks as an example. They draft much later than their record would indicate because all non playoff teams draft 1st in round one. But will the Seahawks continue to draft in the 20s in round two or will they vault into the top ten as their 7-9 would deserve.

    Rounds 2-7

    • In subsequent rounds, teams with the same record rotate draft positions regardless of whether or not they made the playoffs. The only exception is the Super Bowl teams, who always pick last.

Same spot every round, Sea Ray.

The teams that change are the ones that have identical records - then they use opponents win percentage in round one, and then they move each round. For example, the Giants draft 19th in round 1, then in round 2 they have 20th pick, and in round 3 the 19th pick. This is because the Giants and Tampa Bay had identical 10-6 records so they flip flop each round.

But playoff teams go by worst record per round. So since Seattle is the worst record wise of the round two losers they pick 25th each and every round.
