Re: Top 25: Performances by Child Actors

One movie that had a lot of good child actors in it was The Sandlot.

    Tom Guiry- Smalls
Mike Vitar- Benny "the Jet" Rodriguez
    Chauncey Leopardi- Michael "Squints" Palledorous

    And many more.

If anyone could make me a real signature that would be awesome I am not great with photoshop.

I assume "child actor" means "under 18," so I nominate Anthony Michael Hall in "Sixteen Candles." IMO, he gives one of the best comedic performances of all time.

The Good Son isn't a very good movie though, that's the problem. Home Alone is a classic.

Ah.... so that's the reason I don't see some of the oldtime child actors on that list, like Shirley Temple, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, and even Ron Howard.

The blond headed boy who played the midshipman who lost his arm in Master and Commander wasn't bad either.

That is a pretty comprehensive list, Sava. Nice job.

My only addition would be Carrie Henn, who played the character of "Newt" in the movie Aliens.

I agree with much of yor list. It's a testament that you have three acting performances from Stand By Me. Rob Reiner did such a tremendous job with those kids and they talk about the filming in the extra features portion of the movie.

I would add Patty Duke's performance in The Miracle Worker as another very good performance. Likewise, the performance of Mary Badham as Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird.

I don't care what age you are...hasn't everyone seen Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz?

I think the two teen girls from My Sister's Keeper were amazing... one of the best performances by teens I've ever seen.

Elijah Wood doesn't get a nod for his work in The Lord of Rings? He doesn't look to be more than 14 or 15.

Apparently none of you have seen my daughter's act when she wants something.

He was about 20 in LOTR.
