This was the toughest vote for me in quite a while. I went with Serrano even though I see him as a reliever long term. I just really like his slider.

I mean, I know we're all into peripherals and projectables and cutting-edge whatnot, but we're at #39 and the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year is still at-large.

Re: Who is Redszone's #39 prospect?

Wasn't Donnie Joseph the minor league pitcher of the year?

Any way, no problem Camisa. We all have to step away from the keyboard sometimes, and you've done yeoman's work here. As I said in the other thread, I'm switching my vote to Scott Carroll, who I think is fairly close to the majors and stands a good chance at some success.

edit: figured it out; Hotchkiss was Carolina League Pitcher of the Year, and yeah, he should probably be on the list by now. Didn't he get more support in years past?

The links for Hotchkiss as organizational Pitcher of the Year, as named by mlb.com. But I believe you're right that Joseph was named in another listing, perhaps by the organization itself.

And yes, he was also Pitcher of the Year for the Carolina League.

One minor note. Luis Gonzalez is actually left-handed. He'll be 18 next month. Last year in the Venezuelan League: 65 IP, 49 H, 14 BB, 44 K, 0.969 WHIP, 2.49 ERA.

Thanks, mace. I knew I should've looked it up.

It isn't about peripherals, its about who projects to be the best major leaguer, and I think its pretty awesome that we can say that at #39, Jordan Hotchkiss isn't likely that guy. That is some strong depth.

Sulbaran sure has dropped off the map hasn't he. I will vote for him here since my guy (Juan Silva) isn't likely to get the votes necessary to take the spot here.

It looks like the next ballot will be the first one for which I haven't had a candidate already in the queue. Could Mace Thurman be returned to the list? Maybe Chase Ware, as well?

Re: Who is Redszone's #39 prospect?

Interesting that the top five vote-getters here were starting pitchers--presuming that they all remain that, which is a large presumption. But that's what they were last year, for the most part. In fact, all but four of the votes went to starting pitchers.
