    New Foo Fighters Album

It's due to be out, April 11th, but still un-titled. VERY excited for this one.

Today they released their first video for the album, and it's got Lemmy from Motorhead in it!!! It's awesome! Very hard rock, especially for the Foo.

I am down with the Fighters of Foo and anything with Lemmy in it is gold.

I like the FF but don't care for that song. I don't like the scream into the microphone and call it singing thing. Hopefully the whole album isn't that way.

It's not bad, but it's very repetitive and it's missing a hook.

Did Josh Homme produce this album? I hear a heavy Queens of the Stone Age influence.

I think Butch Vig produced it, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind.

I actually love the instrumental track. However, screaming in the mike seems tongue-in-cheek and is rather annoying.

This reminds me of their first album where they had no pre-existing "sound" they felt indebted to repeating and played around with a bunch of different textures and genres. Hopefully they go back to that more experimental sound, I think after their last few albums a more freestyle and shabby record will do their career the best.

For you Nirvana fans, Krist Novaselic is playing bass on the album, at least for a number of tracks.

It sounds very much like "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar..." by Queens of the Stone Age. I've been trying to post a link to that song on YouTube.

If this is what the album sounds like then I'll skip it.

Someone needs to tell Dave he had a good voice and doesn't need to scream so much.

    Re: New Foo Fighters Album

For those of you who enjoy useless music facts, the odd looking drum kit used in that music video was used by Chad Channing during his days in Nirvana.

I thought it looked familiar (it's hard to forget drums that get bigger and curve outward toward their bottom head) and I asked on a Nirvana forum I belong to, and sure enough.

If you aren't familiar, Chad Channing was Nirvana's "Pete Best", if you will. He played on their first album, Bleach, but was ultimately replaced by Dan Peters of Mudhoney, followed by Dale Crover of The Melvins, and permanently by Dave Grohl, who now fronts the Foo Fighters.

I honestly have no idea why those drums made an appearance in this video, but it's interesting to a geek like me.

Here's a similar odd-looking set from the North Company:

Different than normal Foo Fighters but I really do dig it.

The Foo released their first single from the Album today. It's called "Rope". They're streaming it from their website today. Take a listen.

It's definitely different then White Limo. I personally think the muscial part sounds like Rush.
