I actually was interested in seeing the new show purely out of curiosity.

    Not anymore.

That'll probably go over about as well as replacing Frank Burns with Charles Emerson Winchester III.

They should be so lucky. There were actually more episodes of M*A*S*H with Winchester, 131, than Burns, 119, with the show running 1972-77 with Burns and 1977-83 with Winchester. Of course, both were mere supporting characters who were foils for the show's star.

Yeah. I guess I should have used BJ (Mike Farrell) replacing Trapper (Wayne Rogers), or Potter (Harry Morgan) replacing Henry Blake (McLean Stephenson).

I preferred the old cast to the new, but still loved the show, and watch it in reruns whenever I can.

Actually the best analogy would be when Charlie Sheen replaced Michael J. Fox on Spin City. He kinda killed that show. Oh, the irony.

I too preferred the original cast but the show lasted longer with Farrell and Morgan. Shoot, when I think of Bonanza I think of the original show that lasted six seasons and included Pernell Roberts, but Bonanza actually ran more seasons without Roberts than it did with him.

He made that show unwatchable, it's no coincidence that half the cast jumped ship when Fox left.

mmm...i don't know. the other characters carry a good part of the comedy on that show anyway. conchata ferrell's berta would be most missed. if scriptwriters can up the ante a bit, a matured kutcher might surprise.

Actually I think it's a very good replacement. Bigger problem is the kid ain't no kid anymore.

Well that's an easy fix, somehow incorporate a new younger version of Jake as Aston's kid in the show to freshen up that aspect of things.

Inserting a new kid almost always works
