I'll go as many rounds as the consensus decides, and I'll pick up extra teams if anyone wants to drop out. Once you've done the research, it isn't really that much extra work.

Not trying to pick a fight, but as Bengals fan, I would be disappointed in this draft so far. I think Andy Dalton is a career backup, and would rather have Dan Lefevere (sp) taking snaps. You emerge from the first three rounds with gaping holes still at WR, CB, QB, RB, and OL.
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

Again LB I disagree with your synopsis of the team. Also this is a mock situation so one must assume there is a plan and the plan is mine (as a default) based on what we have and where I think we should be going.

    Gaping holes?

Chad, Simpson, Shipley, Caldwell (2 starters and 2 capable backups all under contract) if anything we need a mid-late round addition at worst.

Hall, Jones, Ghee, Trent (and Joseph has a 1st and 3rd compensation tag, i.e. I believe he is going no where).

Benson I suspect will be back as well, if he doesn't I still have a 4th round choice and I believe there is enough depth to go that route if I feel the need. I think the odds are he comes back if I felt the opposite I would have addressed it already.

Dalton is my backup in this scenario, as my plan would include dealing for a QB (Kolb).

Bottom line is I couldn't pass on Marcell Dareus, I believe he is a real difference maker at DT and those guys are so rare. I was conflicted on my 2nd round choice and if I had it to do all over again I may have selected Christian Ponder as he is an immediate backup with a possibly solid future. But to be fair Rahim Moore is a potential Ed Reed like safety, yet another possible difference maker and Andy Dalton has a similar grade to Ponder according to the scouting reports I've read. I took Cam Newton and Ryan Mallet off my board all together so it was Gabbert or 2nd round and Best Available QB then. But again seeing as how I felt I could get Dalton in the 3rd and he was extremely similar to those drafted in the 2nd I don't feel I did a poor job.

OL I still need to address as well I admit I wanted to pick one up in the 1st 3 rounds but it just didn't work out that way (blame that on Rahim Moore being too good to pass up). Again I still have several picks (and hopefully FA) to go so I think I will do fine.

If I said this was my offseason would you then say my draft was solid?

    Kevin Kolb QB
    Robert Gallery LG
    Benson, Joseph, Fanene Re-signed
    And this draft?

So Mario..... (playing Devil's Advocate), what happens to your plan if Kolb goes elsewhere? Because the FA period is going to be after the draft.

On the other hand, I could be pissy because I need a QB and now I don't have any of my choices. I got played like a fiddle in this draft.

For the record, I was considering Andy Dalton in the third round if he made it down to the Patriots. Seems like the type of QB who could be groomed to replace Tom Brady when he decides to hang it up.

Bungals grabbing Dalton in 3rd is a seriously great value choice. The guy is a winner and a vocal leader and how can that not be a good thing?

I don't see it when I look at Dalton, I would rather have the Bengals in house options. Yes I said that, including Jordan Palmer. Dalton is the QB, that everyone says give him a few years, and then he will play. Four years later he gets cut at the end of training camp bounces around a few years and is out of the league. These guys populate every draft, I defy you to name the last 3-5 round pick that came on and played. Tom Brady doesn't count, and that happened 10 years ago, lots of QBs since then.

I see a slightly better version of Craig Krenzel. Who was also drafted and started as a rookie in the NFL.

Well I have others who I think can handle the job for a year or 2. Matt Hasselbeck (who I don't think Seattle really wants back), Donovan McNabb, Kyle Orton is a trade option, Matt Flynn in GB is a potentially solid starter and as all these guys listed so far are in west coast offenses or have been at some point. There are also a few guys who still are interesting to me, mind you I am not necessarily looking for an elite guy at the moment but a guy who can play in this offense, ideally help teach this offense to the Bengals already in house but most importantly not be a negative on the field or in the locker room. Heck even Bruce Gradkowski spent some time in virtually this exact offense in TB and has proven to be a decent stop gap guy.

If the worst case scenario is I take on a Gradkowski type to mentor and be a place holder and I end up with a high pick next year for Luck or Barkley even Landry Jones it's not the end of the world. I will have a complete team and the best possible team I can put together starting on the interior lines when I add that QB of the future, not gonna reach in this draft just to say I filled a need.

And one other guy who intrigues me a bit in this offense is Alex Smith. He may not amount to a hill of beans but I think he can thrive in a W/C offense and he is only 26. Bottom Line is there are options out there but I am not passing on a guy who I think is the next Marcus Stroud or Ed Reed just to take any 'ole arm.

    Sorry for the delay.

The Denver Broncos select Ahmad Black, S, University of Florida

Not the most athletic player and size is not ideal but has football instincts off the charts, perfect fundamentals and is a high-character guy/leader.

BTW, as a Bengals fan myself, I actually like the draft so far and would be ecstatic if we got Dalton there, even if the signing of a Kolb or McNabb was forthcoming.
