Re: Official 2011 Redszone NFL Mock Draft thread ...

Nice pick Muta. bucksfan2 pm'd me his picks so i'll finish off the 3rd and after we settle on who all is gonna take whom in the 4th I'll put in his 4th rounder. BTW Just read up on the NFL court decision, looks like it could be a couple of weeks according to the judge herself so I'd say let's give it a day or 2 to see who latches on to this 4th round and then kick it off early Saturday or Sunday.

With the final selection of the 3rd round in the 2011 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers select:

    Justin Boren OG Ohio State

Andre Smith's successor as Alabama's left tackle, Carpenter projects as an NFL right tackle at 6'5/313 with 34-inch arms.

He'll fix the problems that developed last year at Offensive Tackle for the 49er's where Anthony Davis was a disaster in protection as a Rookie where he was the only tackle in the league who was responsible for double-digit penalties, sacks, and quarterback hits.

New Head Coach Jim Harbaugh can't afford to go into the season with question marks surrounding his Offensive Line. There must be protection so he can take advantage of Frank Gore's, Michael Crabtree's and Vernon Davis' elite skills in the Passing Game.

Should LT Joe Staley get injured again, they'll have the depth and flexibility at Tackle to handle it this year, and Anthony Davis can sit on the bench in 2011 if he's not ready to be a Starter. Competition between Davis and Carpenter should be a good one in camp,....if camp ever happens this year.
I have to say that the 49er's got the steal of the draft with this pick in the 3rd Round.

From Rotoworld via NFL network w/ Rotoworld comments:

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi has Alabama's James Carpenter ranked as the second-best offensive tackle in the draft, behind only Tyron Smith of USC.

Lombardi believes Carpenter possesses the balance, power, and feet of a "ready-made left tackle" while also suggesting he has the capability to play inside.

(With a lockout looming into September, it's going to be hard to find things to talk about regarding the NFL.)

Alright call me impatient, who wants what teams? I figure we need to take about 4 teams apiece. Don't count bucksfan2 he only committed to the 1st pick. chico and I have 2 already so I'll take Buffalo and keep Chicago (unless someone would rather have them). Let me know who you want and then as we go if anyone else wants in we can cut them in. As soon as we fill the remaining teams we'll get it going.

I'd be willing to add the Colts and one other team that nobody wants.

I went ahead and gave Kingspoint the Jets TC since he called them out 1st but if you want 'em I'd encourage you 2 to work that out. If you are ok with him getting them and would like a different team instead let me know. I've bolded the available ones.

Will do, 5 teams to go and we can begin. In fact I think seeing as how there are few teams left I'll go ahead and get it kicked off again with bucksfan2's 4th rounder that he pm'd me the other day. I'll do it in a seperate post here.
