    Yankee series..special pricing...

Am i doing something wrong or is it not possible to buy a ticket to the Yankees series without buying one of the package deals? I live in indy and can only make it over for 2-3 games per season. We already have tix for the May game vs. the Cards which is the sparky game. I had wanted to go over and see a Yankee - Red game like I did back in 2003, but doens't look like that is possible. Sorry but not a fan of this ticketing plan or the "increased prices' for special games. With the economy the way it is right now, the Reds are not being very financially friendly to it's fans in my opinion.:thumbdown

I'm pretty sure you have to buy a package in order to get tickets to the yankees series. However, there is some kind of package where you get 1 yankees game, and your pick of 3 other games if i'm not mistaken..
If I were you and just wanted to go to 1 game of the yankees series i'd check out ebay or stubhub. You may pay a little over face for the yankees series, but it would beat paying for several games if you can't make it there for all of them.

the Reds offer thousands of $5 and $8 tickets to about 70 games. I'd say they are pretty friendly to their fans.

There are also 10k+ empty seats to those games. I really don't care for I have no interest in going to a Yankee game.

You can get a lot of games in for the cost of just one of the yankees games. and who are the yankees, they are not in our division or even our league. Focus.....Cards, Brewers

hmmm lets see...THEY ARE THE NY YANKEES. Love them, hate them, they are still the kings of MLB. They are the 1 team known world wide and a chance to see them is great.

I agree. I'm not a big fan of the yankees, but it would be pretty cool to be able to say you saw A-Rod, Jeter, Sabathia, Rivera etc. someday.

And I think there is your answer, the Reds can charge more for those type games, make it a package deal, etc as they know people will pay the extra to see that team. Its simple good business and expect them do that. They do the specials and individual tickets on the games that arent as "sexy" and dont draw as many. I prefer those games myself, not as crowded and can jsut enjoy the game on the field.

I was raised in upstate NY and never a yankees fan. But....... they do draw. I have tickets for the first game, Mon. night and......expect to be there, but to see the Reds and how they do against the yankees (gotta be thinking WS and those damn yankees may be there). Fact is the yankees are a huge draw and everywhere they go they sell out. All teams want the yankees to visit.

I don't understand why the Yankees aren't a bigger draw in Cleveland. The Indians hosted a 4-game series at the end of July last season and attendance for those games was nothing spectacular.

New York Yankees @ Cleveland (2010)
    Monday, July 26 - 27,224
    Tuesday, July 27 - 27,416
    Wednesday, July 28 - 22,965
    Thursday, July 29 - 34,455

New York Yankees @ Cleveland (2009)
    Friday, May 29 - 32,802
    Saturday, May 30 - 34,396
    Sunday, May 31 - 29,405
    Monday, June 1 - 23,651

New York Yankees @ Cleveland (2008)
    Friday, April 25 - 31,467
    Saturday, April 26 - 35,765
    Sunday, April 27 - 31,598
    Monday, April 28 - 20,689

I agree, but thats why tickets are more expensive for those games or have to buy pacakge to get em, as it should be. Those are the games that more poser fans come out for, or ones who want to see the Yanks but arent there to see the Reds the rest of the year unless there is a bobblehead in it for them. Heck, i say charge 3 times regular for those games!

I think there are a few factors:

a). The Indians and Yankees play every year. Nothing special
b). The Indians don't draw well PERIOD
c). Cleveland doesn't have many transplant fans (who moves to Cleveland?), so the contingent of Yankees fans in attendance isn't as great.
d). For Yankees fans who travel to see their team, there are better locales. Many save their money for Fenway, or go to Camden Yards

Those are my guesses. Could be wrong.
