OK... Just got back after all the running around. Verdict on The Yardhouse? On scale of 1-5:
Food - 3.5 Caesar salad was excellent, pizza and tea good.
Service: 4 very friendly waitress... Lots of larger parties so she and the rest of staff were kept on their toes. Knowledgeable about the food.
Atmosphere: 5 this is what I pay for since I'm not a drinker. Was on the covered open patio with views of the Roebling bridge, river, NKY, and PBS.
The real problem was that it started to rain during the meal and it didn't look like much but it was pouring when I got up to leave. Had an umbrella which kept my head dry but that was about it... Oh, and I was wearing sandals!

    Tally so far...

Food: Holy Grail, Moerlein House, The Yardhouse, and The Tin Roof.
Service: Moerlein House, Holy Grail, The Yardhouse, and The Tin Roof.
Atmosphere: all the establishments have a great vibe. I guess I'm biased but having places to eat so close to the ballpark, downtown and the river is a dream come true for me. And food, service and atmosphere are the most important things to me.

Jefferson Social has some pretty unique flavors on their dry rub wings. The Cincinnati Chili variety dipped in mustard is really enjoyable as a change of pace from the usual pub grub.

Did they "jump" the river? The Levee had Jefferson Hall but they closed. Is this the same owners? They're next on the list after Crave to try.

Yes, the same owners as Jefferson Hall. I have to admit I never ate at the Newport location so I can't make a comparison.

    From the Best Burger thread...

Went back to The Yardhouse at the Banks this past Sunday and had their "gardein" sliders with garlic fries. Very good! They put a sauce on that tastes smokey/charred. My server said it was a "Big Mac" sauce, but it didn't have a tartar taste. Got down there just after 11am (when they open) and had the open air patio to myself for most of the meal. Wasn't that hot at the time and a good breeze coming in. Perfect!

They've gotten some really bad reviews - almost went there on Sunday but ended up at The Yardhouse.

I went and read some of the reviews and have to say they are pretty fair. I guess my issue is that I was expecting bar food, not a gourmet experience. If I want that I'll go to one of the dozens of options within walking distance. Part of my difference of opinion is that I live right upstairs and don't expect anything other than a place to stop for a quick drink and some wings.

On the topic of Banks restaurants, we saw Emilio Estevez at the Holy Grail yesterday.

Well, since I seldom drink it has to be the food that'll get me in the door or to come back the second time.

Wow, seeing Emilio! The only times I've seen a "celebrity" at a restaurant was down in Sarasota at the Broken Egg with Dickie V (2x).

Bumping this... For an update on the Yardhouse: they've placed sheeting (finally!) on their patio. Nice and toasty!

I see WineGuy is leaving the Banks but they already have secured a replacement.

    Crave is pretty good.

Never cared much for WG. Plus, people in the burbs can get WG without having to go downtown.

I've been to the Two Bits in Nashville. It's nothing special.
