    Reds/Rangers 03/11 Friday

    Texas-Cincinnati.

    77 Degrees at game time.

    Sappelt
    Stubbs
    Votto
    Francisco
    Lewis
    Hanigan
    Cozart
    Dorn
    Valaika

Sappelt lines the second pitch into left for a single.
Stubbs strikes out and you would think the Rangers just clinched the pennant by the reaction of the Ranger's announcers.
Sappelt does what he shouldn't (running in front of Votto) but is safe at second.
Votto grounds a single into right scoring Sappelt. (which wouldn't have happened without the stolen base) 1-0 Reds.
Juan Francisco grounds into a 3-6-3 double play. Top of the first is over.

Plus one run by running in front of Votto if anyone is keeping track.

    Bottom of the first.

    Johnny Cueto on the mound.

Ian Kinsler leads things off with a stand-up double off the wall.
Andrus wastes an out bunting Kinsler to third.
Hamilton bloops one over the SS position for a single to tie things up. 1-1.
Francisco to Cozart to Votto. End of first.

    One run apiece.

    Top of the second:

Lewis bunts down the third base line for a hit.
Hanigan works a walk. Lewis to second.
Cozart can't get the sacrifice down and winds up striking out. Rangers' announcers are pretty low-key but get excited when a Ranger pitcher Ks someone.
Passed ball moves the runners up. Lewis on third. Hanigan on second.
ANOTHER STRIKE OUT BY COLBY LEWIS!! (I was channeling Ranger broadcasting as Dorn goes down on strikes.
Valaika with a two-out, two-run ground ball up the middle to plate two. 3-1 Reds.
Sappelt flies out to Cruz in RCF. Three gone.

On to the bottom half of the second.

    Bottom of the second:

Young grounds to Valaika for the first out.
Torrealba lines the ball into the left-field corner and pulls into second with a one-out double.
Moreland rips one into the gap in right-center for a double that plates Torrealba. 3-2 Reds.
Cueto falls behind Davis 3-0 but comes back and Ks him on three straight off-speed pitches.
Julio Borbon walks. Moreland on second. Borbon on first. Two down.
Ian Kinsler goes down swinging to end the bottom of the second.

    3-2 Reds.

It would be nice to pin that on Spring Training, but there was a sweet little 32-pitch inning for Cueto. Something Reds fans are accustomed to seeing. Throw freaking strikes.

That's it for me. Baseball is losing another fan. Two innings and it took almost an hour. Who has three or four hours to spend on baseball every day?

    Stubbs grounds out to short.
    Votto doubles to left.
    Francisco grounds out.
    Lewis grounds out.
    No damage done.

    3-2 after 2.5.

Cueto out after 2. He threw a ton of pitches in the second but only 40 pitches altogether because of an efficient first. Price went to the mound in the second. I guess there is nothing physically wrong with Cueto. You would think he would be trying to get more than 40 pitches in though. Bray on in the third.

Bray sets them down in order quickly on a fly out, line out, pop up.

    End of 3. 3-2 Reds.

Reds go out meekly in the top of the fourth on five pitches.

    Hanigan flies out.
Dorn and Cozart out on ground balls.

    3-2 Reds. End of 3.5.

Bottom of the fourth and Jose Arredondo toes the rubber for Cincinnati.

He Ks Michael Young on three pitches. Nice start.
    Torrealba retired 4-3. Two down.
    Arredondo gets Moreland swinging.

    3-2 Reds. End of 4.

    Cueto 40 pitches 20 strikes.
    Bray 9 pitches 6 strikes
    Arredondo 11 pitches 9 strikes.

Reds lead 5-4 going into the bottom of the ninth.
David Thompson pitched a scoreless 8th.
DT comes out for the ninth and gives up a one-out blast to tie things up.

Dirty Deeds up for Texas with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. He grounds out. I guess extra innings.

Nope. The Reds kiss their sisters today by the score of 5-5.
