    Has Atlantis finally been found?

This latest claim seems to be very plausible given Plato's descriptions.

Tonight's national geographic special should be pretty interesting...

My belief of what spawned the legends of Atlantis. But I have no scientific proof to prove it.

    It just makes sense.

Where the Minoans were on Santorini would have put them within a decent boat ride of EVERY major shipping nation at that time (Egyptians, Greeks, Crete, and Phoenicians) making it a very wealthy trading center and a place where information most likely converged while ships were trading their goods.

And you talk of Atlantis what is the legend that most people know? The Sunken City of Atlantis. What happened to Santorini? After the Earth shattering KABOOM it sank into the sea.

    I'm with you.

Reading about legends, conspiracies, unsolved disappearances and supernatural events on Wikipedia is one of my favorite things to do on my free time.

That got a lot of play in the NG special tonight. They felt like it was not Atlantis due to the fact that there were so many survivors

Its an effective way to get lots of links for possible works cited page.

You just have to make sure to read the links first.

I've lost hours of my life surfing from one Wikipedia page in a given topic to the next. It's fascinating stuff.

Me too. Cross referencing is addictive. Although I wouldn't classify my time doing it as "lost." Some of it was the most productive hours I have ever spent. But then again, I say the same thing about time spent on this board.

I just wanted you to know that your reference to Marvin the Martian did NOT go unnoticed.

Good to hear I had to make mention of one of my favorite skits cause it fit so easily.

Did National Geographic get actors for this one, too? (referencing the fake Pacific Islander tribe they came up with a few years ago)
