MLB could be heading to Europe in 2014

I've never been a fan of teams playing regular season games outside the US or Canada.

Some Major League Baseball games could be played on European soil in the near future.

Dutch baseball journalist Pim van Nes has written a very interesting news story on Mister-Baseball.com about a press conference held in the Netherlands on Monday. A new ballpark is being built for the Vaessen Pioniers in Hoofddorp and the plan is for its capacity to be increased temporarily to 30,000 for the staging of three MLB games in 2014.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

After the Reds win the series in 2013, they'll undoubtedly get invited to this.
I have a love-hate relationship with Albert Pujols. Mostly hate.

If the Reds go to the Netherlands, keep an eye on Aroldis Chapman.

This is a politically savvy move that will aid baseball's quest to return as an Olympic sport.

More practically, the time shift of playing 5+ hours to the east is likely to be unpleasant for the players. Spring Training there could be a disaster, full of games unplayed due to cold and rainy conditions if the sites are chosen for political reasons, rather than for their warm climates.

It's not ideal but it's a lot better than playing in the Far East.

To make it even more fun you just know they'll choose some west coast teams.

I give this about a 0.01% chance of happening.

Chances of this happening are much much greater.

Perhaps exhibition games, but I cannot believe regular season games.

And what would "THE UNION" say about this? Might have to belly-up about $300k/player/game to get them to agree.
