    Organizational Roster

Jamie Ramsey has posted the rosters for the various affiliates: http://mlblogsramsey.files.wordpress...ganization.pdf

Haven't checked it over yet. He also noted these moves:

The Reds have released minor leaguers Ricky Bowen (RHP), Miguel Chacoa (INF), Alex Oliveras (OF), Jose Ortuno (C), Oliver Santos (INF) and Cameron Satterwhite (OF).

The Reds signed to a minor league contract and assigned to Louisville RHP David Johnson.

For what it's worth, Alonso is listed as an outfielder with Louisville.

I mentioned in the Carolina thread that Cody Puckett is also listed as an outfielder.

Justin Lehr is starting the season on the inactive list, as is Chris Denove.

    Other interesting notes:

Juan Duran is beginning the season in Dayton. I'm guessing he was slated to the start the season in Billings again but forced his way on the Dayton roster with a strong spring.

Ronald Torreyes, Ismael Guillon, and Jonathan Correa are all starting in extended spring training.

Juan Carlos Sulbaran is starting in Bakersfield. I thought there was a chance he would be back in Dayton.

I'm really excited about the Dayton lineup with Billy Hamilton, Yorman, and Duran.

I'm assuming the Billings roster is loaded with guys who will be in extended spring training for whatever reason. It has some curious names: Gregorius, Buchholz, Day, Garton, Lotzkar (who we know had an elbow issue a couple weeks ago), Infante, Ravin.

Torreyes is also listed there, which means only that he won't start the season in Dayton.

Alonso in LF is fantastic news and, frankly, something that should have happened last year as Joey Votto was obliterating the rest of the NL.

Does anyone have any information on RHP David Johnson?

I hate to see Satterwhite go. Wasn't much of a prospect, but was a Moeller grad.

Dayton should be fun to watch this year.

I wish they would have started Yasmani at AA so Fleury could start every day in High A.

I haven't researched it, but I presume this is him.

Chris Cody and David Johnson are both minor league vets who will surely latch on with another organization in the coming weeks. Neither profile to have any big league career (though I thought Cody had a nice chance prior to the 2010 season due to plus-command and a plus-changeup), but should serve as great organizational filler.

The depth chart in Nashville was simply getting too crowded. Johnson and Cody are victims of the accumulation of depth, which is never a bad situation for an organization to possess.

I haven't done the math, but it seems as though on average the ML pitching staff is younger than the AAA pitching staff.

    Re: Organizational Roster

RHP David Johnson looks like a great pickup. This helps to refill some of the pitching depth that was hurt by injuries.
