“He has to be a leader,” Sweet said. “He has to know the game, know pitch selections, know how to make adjustments. (Mesoraco) has all the physical tools to go up there, and he's a quick learner. He does a good job.”

Miller, who has played in the big leagues for four teams, is impressed by Mesoraco's demeanor.

“He has a calmness about him,” he said. “He doesn't get too caught up in the speed of the game. He asks a lot of questions and tries to execute.”
