Has a member of Congress ever been Deaf?

And I don't want any shots at them about not listening to the American people, just a straight up answer. Has an American Congressman (woman) ever not been able to hear? If so who was it and when did s/he serve?

    Thanks

There has never been a deaf member of congress. There have been several deaf British and Canadian MPs but never a member of the US Congress.

I'm sure some of the longer standing (read:Older) members might have become deaf (or at least hard of hearing) just due to age while in office, but I do not believe there has been a deaf member of Congress.

On a similar note, there has been several members of Congress who were blind.

It's possible that the disability was kept hidden. So we may never know.
