Ben Grieve Part II is on pace for 42 HRs and 117 RBIs.

Dare I say putting up MVP type numbers.

The scary, yet terribly frustrating thing is that he's done it in a very short amount of time considering how long he was slumping. The thing about Bruce is that when he gets hot, he really, really carries the team on his back. It speaks to his talent, but also leaves plenty to be desired for consistency.

If he ever sustains his hitting for a lengthy period of time though... MVP is absolutely in his realm.

I'd go as far as to say he could put up a historically good season if he would add the element of consistency to his game.

Either way, just a special, special talent.

Did he really slump that long? He was awful until mid April but since the 15th of April he's put up a .981 OPS. Certainly he's been super hot of late but he really didn't "slump" that long.

I just hope that he gets his fair share of All-Star votes

    Yessir.

I think he is tremendously talented. And that's why I don't understand the criticism of those disappointed with him at times. He shows flashes of being unbelievably good. I don't think it's fair to hold him to a higher standard because he's proven he's capable of it.

He finished April with a .681 OPS and if you look at his game log, his peak OPS actually was in the middle of April and it went down for two weeks before a surge the last few days. So to me, that's a pretty extended slump.

He OPS'd nearly .800 from mid April until the end of the month. Not great but he was just Paul Janish to start the season.

    April 18-30 he was just 8-of-43 (.186) with 2 homers, 5 RBI's and a .597 OPS.

Granted, he had a 4-hit day on April 17, but that just shows the volatility of it all. Point is... he actually wasn't very good the second half of the month either.

I feel like "Paul Janish" could be a long lasting verb on RZ.
