I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

Same as the posters above me. Looks like there might be some blowouts this round.

I have a strong feeling that this site will pick a Cincinnati Red to win it.

Re: RZ Greatest Catcher Tournament- Quarter-finals

Their are only two catchers whom I could possibly consider ranking ahead of Johnny Bench, and one of those was disposed of in the first round: Josh Gibson.
Bench over Mickey Cochrane is therefore easy.
Yogi Berra over Roy Campanella is also easy. If we were just going by peak value then the Campy of '51, '53 and '55 would outrank Yogi, but the Campy of '52, '54 and '56 and Berra's overall career make Yogi the easy choice.
Ivan Rodriguez over Bill Dickey is also easy.
I'm taking Mike Piazza over Carlton Fisk. Piazza is almost certainly the greatest hitter among catchers all time, except maybe for Josh Gibson, but his defense should keep him out of the top five. However, Fisk shouldn't be in the top five either. It is close, but I'll take Piazza.

    Tough:

    Bench
    Dickey
    Fisk
    Campy
