In short, he looked like a Major League pitcher should look in AAA...he dominated them. I watched part of the game on MiLB.TV and he looked really relaxed in the 6th when he got to his pitch count. He looked like he could have gone another inning or two, but I guess it's better that they not tax him early. I'd guess he's ready to pitch the opener against Florida on Friday and go 80-90 pitches. We could use the shot in the arm.

Oh yeah, the Bats are winning 9-0 in the 7th and Homer's in line for the W.
It wasn't on regular rest. He had 7 days between starts. He needed the extra time because his arm was sore. Lets see how he feels and throws in 5 days before he's promoted.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Leake sure is making it interesting. Could it be Wood that goes down? I don't think it should be, but I wonder if it's a consideration?

It has to be in consideration. There's only so many spots.

Trade on the horizon? One of the 6 for a serious bat?

Wood has had one poor outing this year. IMO I wouldn't touch Arroyo, Leake, or Wood when it comes time to activate Cueto and Bailey.

Two, AZ and the Pirates both chased him early

Bailey to relief and Lecure to the minors. Tell Homer that he's next in case someone falters or gets hurt. Let Wood and Leake duke it out since right now it is fairly even.

Personally I think we've simply GOT to make a trade. LeCure's been very solid too. And toss into that equation the fact that Chapman's going to be starting too (hopefully starting next season). If we can't get a legitimate improvement in LF or SS (BOTH offensively AND defensively...not just one sided), then I'd be happy with a nice re-stock of the farm system (AA and below).

Of course all of this is based on us assuming that Bailey & Cueto will indeed be coming back and will pitch well. That's a big assumption considering the volatility of pitchers in general.

Wood shouldn't even be in the discussion to be sent down, IMO. He's pitched well in three of his five starts and his peripherals are right in line with that they were last season 7.62 K/9, 2.22 BB/9).

I'm not sure that Wood will survive this one, if one of the starters is close to returning.

And that's against some Juggernaut offenses.
Right now, he's our leader for being sent down...and it's not really very close IMO.

Wood still shouldn't be in the discussion to be sent down, IMO. Yeah, he was off tonight but if Bruce catches that flyball in the first inning then the Marlins probably don't score that inning. His K/BB and HR rates are all still very solid. He was our best starter last year, he deserves some time to turn things around.

That's a very favorable way to look at Wood's situation.
