Source: Mike Leake paid for the T-shirts

I posted this in the other thread but that thread is getting long.

    From WCPO.com:

Alleged failure being the operative term. It has been suggested to me, that Leake did indeed pay for T-shirts some time prior to yesterday's episode. And only in the process of trying to exchange them, did he run afoul of, if not the law, then certainly the dictates of common sense.

That Leake somehow thought that he could affect what is termed an even exchange without benefit of a store employee presiding over the transaction.

O.K., who here hasn't had a problem getting a store employee to help you out?

Is this the official equivalent of an athlete getting busted for PEDs saying "It was nothing more than an honest misunderstanding. I was on a prescription drug and/or got something over-the-counter from GNC that I didn't realize was on MLB's banned list. I definitely didn't use steroids or HGH."???

Anyway, I hope Leake's excuse is legit. I'm skeptical by nature though.

If Leake gets off on this, the attorney working for the Reds is worth every penny of his retainer.

I'm not sure I buy this story either but as someone who used to work at Macy's (just through the holidays several years ago for some extra money), I've seen times when the workers do a really poor job of customer service. I always did a fabulous job though, LOL :
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

I have no idea if this is true, but I have done something very similar in a department store before.

I wanted to exchange items that were the wrong size that I got as a present, could not find anyone to help me with this, so I just took the items that were the right size, and put the wrong sized on an empty counter.

I am sure if you were working there, I wouldn't have had to resort to this. Lol

The big difference in my case was that I never took any tags off, of the originals items, nor the right sized items. I also had my reciept with me the whole time. I was able to walk out of the department store without anyone stopping me, but if they had, I had the reciepts and the items still had their tags, so it wouldn't have been any hassle.

I hope this story turns out to be true. It would make Leake simply an idiot rather than a thief and an idiot.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Inventive enough to be true. We need to hear more.

The Reds provided Leake with his attorney?! I must have missed that. I had assumed that Leake had hired him on his own. I know that if I got in trouble with the law, there's no way that my employer would provide my legal counsel.

Apparently, you aren't providing the proper WAR for your company.
