By all accounts, Rojas is the type of SS who can play in the big leagues if he hits at the Janish level.
He didn't start in extended. He was on opening day roster.

Sorry, you're right. He played one game, then got hurt and missed about ten days.

Mudcats lose 8-4 after a great rally attempt.

Miguel Rojas is really impressing me.

    Lewis gone after the game.

    Arredondo gone after Tuesday.

It's only been four games, but Stephen Hunt is ridiculous. He's 2 for 2 tonight with a 2B as Bakersfield leads 5-1 after five. Since his season started late because of whatever injury he was nursing, that makes him 9 for 14 with four BB, four 2B, three HR and 13 RBIs.

Re: Saturday - 4/23/11 Minor League Game Updates

I was at the Bats/Mud Hens game tonight. Carroll was OK, not great. The two homers he gave up were crushed, and hit within 10 feet of each other to right field. Cochran got the win in relief, but he looked pretty shaky in his inning. Gil was bringing the heat, as high as 97, and he tossed his warmup ball to a friend of mine (we had seats in the first two rows behind the Bats bullpen). Herrera's "fastball" wasn't doing much, but when he dropped to 64-65 the Mud Hen hitters were really confused and didn't handle it well.

Todd Frazier was the "strikeout player of the game", which would've won some fans free ice cream if he struck out. Don't know if he took it personally, but he took it to the Hens. He gave the Bats their first lead with a 2 run double, then crushed a ball to left for the 3 run shot that won the game in the 8th. A bit ironic that two of the three two-hit games came from two of the three guys batting under .200 coming in (Cozart and Eymann). Alonso went the other way and ripped a sharp double down the right field line for his hit. Negron went 0-4, but had the defensive play of the night. He made a beautiful diving catch of a line drive to his right that would've gone for extra bases. Can't say anything else really stood out defensively. Funny line of the night from a friend of mine: "Aroldis Chapman throws higher than Brian Barton's batting average".

Won't be at tomorrow's game with the holiday, but may make it to Monday's game to end the series.

Given what a hitter friendly league Bakersfield is in, Villareal's ERA to this point is a nice thing.
