Todd Frazier is now OPSing around .825 despite only hitting .227. He entered today with a .235 BABIP, and his walk rate (11.4%) and K rate (20.6%) are both solid. He's now got 5 HR in 75 atbats. Once his BABIP normalizes, if his power and K/BB remain where they are, we could see his OPS get back in the .900 area.

I think he's a better bet to provide value to the Reds as Rolen's backup than Francisco at this point.

My appologies. But the LF comment still stands. Until he can prove that he can carry his own weight in left, he won't see a starting job in Cincy. Heck, he also needs to hit more consistently in AAA too.

Totally agree. He's just a more well rounded player IMO.

I was thinking this same thing last night. Anybody got anything on his defense at 3b?

Most everything I've read has put it at slightly below average.

This is a day old but Kevin Goldstein mentioned Yorman Rodriguez in his minor league report yesterday.

•Yorman Rodriguez, OF, Reds (Low-A Dayton): 2-for-4, HR (3), 2 R, 3 RBI, K, SB. 18-year-old tool shed is hitting just .206/.250/.382, but power is starting to blossom an upside remains tremendous.

Yorman now has a seven game hitting streak and is OPSing .808 in his last 10 games.

    From the DDN:

COMING AROUND: Prized Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Yorman Rodriguez brought a .206 batting average into the Fort Wayne series, but he leads the team with 15 RBIs. The 19-year-old blasted a three-run homer Wednesday, then followed up with three hits Thursday, including two RBI singles and a triple.

“He’s coming out of (an early slump),” DeShields said. “Slowly but surely.”

Rodriguez has a seven-game hitting streak going.

The DDN also has an update on Mariekson Gregorius.

STILL WAITING: Didi Gregorius, last year’s Dayton shortstop, remains in Arizona awaiting results of tests to determine the severity of a kidney issue. “We should have a plan of attack (soon),” Benavides said. “There’s been a setback. We’re praying for him.” Gregorius would join high-A Bakersfield (Calif.) when pronounced healthy, Benavides said.

I agree. Yonder is said to have all the hitting tools, but hasn't shown nearly the actual production with the bat that Sappelt has and Sappelt is a true OF - might even make a plus LF defender.

Yorman Rodriguez was mentioned in Kevin Goldstein's minor league report again today.

•Yorman Rodriguez, OF, Reds (Low-A Dayton): 3-for-4, 3B, R, 2 RBI. Seven-game hitting streak has him up to .236/.276/.431; has plenty of time to convert the tools into skills.
