That's an..."interesting" lineup. No Bruce, Renteria at short and bumping Janish to 3rd.

Of course, in the past, when Dusty trots out a lineup that makes us all shake our heads...that's the lineup that goes bonkers and puts up 10-15 runs.

Glad our best defensive SS will be at 3b to cover for our worst defensive SS being at SS. Seriously, if Renteria won't play 3b, what use is he?

I've got no problem with Renteria starting at short. If you're going to do that, fine...just give Paul a night off. Isn't that one of (if not THE) the reason's Edgar's here? Let Cairo or Valaika take third tonight.

I've also got no real problem with Edgar not playing 3rd. He obviously doesn't feel comfortable out there. Valaika's never really had any significant playing time there either, but he was fine with it.

Renteria is here for insurance in case Janish can't hit.

And to give him a breather. They were pretty clear on that.

Yes that's normally what your backup SS does.

For those wondering, Carlos Lee is out with bruised ribs. I haven't heard when he's expected back though.
