    This weekends Reds Pitching starters

Just as last year this is a series that the Reds should and need to win. The Reds need to get back to worrying about winning series and take the first game of series.

Volquez needs to continue to put forth quality starts. Even though he has no hitter stuff, it's more important he just focus on getting guys out rather than trying to paint the zone. Some interesting stats for EV this year. Leadoff hitters are batting an amazing .615 against him this year. The 2 hole batter is batting .375 and the 7&8 holes are batting .250 respectively. The remaining 5 spots are batting below the Mendoza line. So while the first inning has been problematic for Volquez so has the top of the lineup in general. If he can get improve his stats versus the top of the lineup, he's gonna give quality starts to this rotation.

Arroyo needs to rebound off of his last performance where he gave up 5 earned runs and 3 home runs. The games where he's gotten into trouble this year wasn't due to getting hits strung together it's been that he gave up 2 and 3 homeruns. Arroyo is going to give up his hits, he just can't give up the long ball. Pitching at Wrigley seems to favor Arroyo, in his last 25 innings pitched there he's put up an era of 2.16 and a opponent batting average of
    .195.

Cueto pitched against the Cubs last year with great success. His start this season however has been delayed due to injury. He pitched 4 times down in Louisville with an overall era of 6.28 which was inflated due to giving up 5 earned runs in 3 2/3 in his second start. Other than that one outing he was solid. Cueto can give a much needed boost to the rotation 3 days after Homer Bailey did so giving a 6 inning 1 earned run performance yesterday against the Houston Astros.

The Reds were 6-1 at Wrigley last season. It's gunna be tough to top that mark, but nothing is impossible.
