Why not give Chris V a start at SS over the old guy? Why not let Heisey go in LF....

I'm fine with Renteria starting until he proves he shouldn't be. Chris V will get plenty of starts coming with Rolen and Francisco out. As for Gomes, he didn't start yesterday IIRC... no problem with him in today.

Because Renteria has produced when in the lineup and Heisey has performed well in a reserve role. No need to reinvent the wheel, especially when things are going well.

Both Valaika and Heisey will get their shots here and there as it should be.

    No, he hasn't.

He has proven he shouldn't be.

Renteria's strong point is supposed to be his bat. It isn't. His OPS is .663. Roughly translated if a .663 OPS is your strong point you don't have one. The Reds have made 15 errors as a team. In a part-time role Renteria has five of those. His fielding is ugly.

He's struggled recently but is still hitting .286. Plus, he is over. 400 lifetime against Myers. He should be in there tonight.

Okay so how many "more" errors does he need to comit before he proves it to you?

If Janish is still unavailable, that makes Renteria the best SS on the team, plus he hit's Myers well.

How many would it take Valaika? Janish has spoiled us... you don't get shortstops that can field that effectively every day. Renteria was also a solid fielder last year. He's not just putzing around out there. He's our clear backup.

We're also paying Renteria $2.1 Million to play here. Why waste that when he provides good offensive production?

    Awesome start BTW.
