Volquez should really be the one out of the rotation. He has no clue and he doesn't trust his stuff. But he'll keep getting the ball every five days because of who the Reds traded to get him.

Love that cannon. Simply LOVE IT! I don't think Rolen makes that play.

Volquez apparently can't settle down and throw strikes until that first run is in.

I agree. The problem is that he'll have short stretches in every game where he looks simply unhittable and the Reds fall in love with it all over again. They need to stop and look at the bottom line for him. He's unacceptable right now. And it's not even close. Having great stuff is fantastic...but if you can't harness it...what's the point? You could roll it up there and get nearly the same results.

    Volkie hitting for himself.

The fact that I'm commenting on that in the 3rd inning should speak volumes about my feelings for him.

There's no doubt that he's got world class, potential ace stuff. But at some point he's got to stop nibbling and start going after hitters. He's got to trust that they won't hit his best stuff even if he can throw it for strikes.

Id like to see Hanigan start catching more of his starts to see if that helps, but it seems like Hernandez is Volquez catcher.

At least Edinson saw more pitches than any other Red so far today.

The only time Hanigan caught Volquez, he was pretty awesome in STL until the Molina homer. If they're going to leave him in the rotation, I'd have Hanigan catch him.

Infield single off Johnson's glove for Stubbs.
