    The big question is..........

Cueto had 73 pitches before this inning. If it's still 4-0, does Dusty let him finish this thing or does he bring in Cordero? I shudder at the thought.

Considering the time he spent as a DH, you would think he might be better off the bench than he is (at least right now). I was at the game last night, and from our seats on the 3rd baseline, we could see how embarrassing his at-bat was. When I got home and watched the replay, it was painful.

If he and Lewis were used in a proper platoon, I like to think it would make a difference, but Gomes seems to be suffering against LHP just as much as RHP right now.

Pull him when he hits 100, otherwise let him play.

Cueto at 84 pitches after 7 innings. Volquez could learn a thing or two from Johnny.

I just laughed at loud at the look at Joey's face. He looked so profoundly disappointed that he wasn't gonna get to bat again.

I understand the rationale for playing Gomes in this series. It is a big series and its a good time to be stable not make changes. As long as the team is winning, I would expect to see Gomes continue to see playing time (although less). I just don't want to see him up with the game on the line.

Having said that, I think playing Lewis is a waste of time. It's replacing one retread with another - which is what Dusty likes to do.

You know this game hurt the Cards, they wanted nothing more that to pound Cueto into the ground.

How is Carpenter going to explain this game to his boy?
