Finally made it back to the 5 games over mark too.
Gotta hope that Woody is on, but 2 of three wouldn't be anything to cry over and it would even the season series, but let's sweep!

Would be nice to see Bruce get straight tomorrow.

Too bad McClellan's not undefeated anymore...
Congratulations to Brandon Phillips, who passed Frank McCormick for sole possession of 20th place on the Reds' all-time home run list!

Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.
Man, that's a long thread, but interesting. I am always amazed at the players this board values. The players most mentioned in the thread were Chris Dickerson, who was going to be our centerfielder (and after two .200 batting seasons, now sits in AAA), Jerry Hairston, Jr (now batting .230 with an OPS of .620), and David Ross. How low did we set our sights in those days? Very low.
Freel, as I understand it, is out of baseball these days, so we dodged a bit bullet, got a supurb catcher, and put a building block forward to last year's division-winning team. Walt Jocketty is a genius.

But...with very limited playing time. In fact, he's seen less than 30 AB's this year. Too many times, I saw him drop throws at home plate. He's fodder and only a backup player, and yet we considered him our starting catcher. Like I said, things have changed with the Reds and I thank the Good Lord for that. Atlanta can have him.

Yeah, good call WV. The Braves are utilizing him perfectly I would say. Over the 3 years mentioned he has had less than 330 PA in total. Which is about one-half season's worth for your typical everyday player. I always liked his bat...but never trusted it to be sustained day in and out.
