Gotta hope that Woody is on, but 2 of three wouldn't be anything to cry over and it would even the season series, but let's sweep!

Like the move. I don't think much of Freel anymore, and Hanigan/Hernandez is a huge upgrade over Ross/Bako/Javy. Hopefully the Reds re-sign Hairston to platoon with Dickerson next year.
Ehe ain't so dumb after all.

Although the second sentence makes me lol.

Man, that's a long thread, but interesting. I am always amazed at the players this board values. The players most mentioned in the thread were Chris Dickerson, who was going to be our centerfielder (and after two .200 batting seasons, now sits in AAA), Jerry Hairston, Jr (now batting .230 with an OPS of .620), and David Ross. How low did we set our sights in those days? Very low.

Freel, as I understand it, is out of baseball these days, so we dodged a bit bullet, got a supurb catcher, and put a building block forward to last year's division-winning team. Walt Jocketty is a genius.

David Ross has OpSed .888, .871, and 1.061 in his 3 years in Atlanta.

But...with very limited playing time. In fact, he's seen less than 30 AB's this year. Too many times, I saw him drop throws at home plate. He's fodder and only a backup player, and yet we considered him our starting catcher. Like I said, things have changed with the Reds and I thank the Good Lord for that. Atlanta can have him.

It also shows how improvement can come in increments, that it doesn't have to be blockbuster, sell all your top prospects type deals to win.

Yeah, good call WV. The Braves are utilizing him perfectly I would say. Over the 3 years mentioned he has had less than 330 PA in total. Which is about one-half season's worth for your typical everyday player. I always liked his bat...but never trusted it to be sustained day in and out.
