Every time we play the Cardinals, they prove Phillips' point

And they did it again today in the ninth inning.

Specifically, their clueless bench coach and acting manager whining about Cordero pitching inside to the once-mighty Albert Pujols. Hey, it's the Cardinal way.

Everyone knows that the St. Louis baseball organization is the final arbiter on all things baseball - both written and unwritten. Just one more reason to hate these arrogant clowns. As if another reason was needed.

If anyone thinks the mighty Prince Pujols was drilled intentionally they must have been watching their very first baseball game.

St Louis Post Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz adding some fire to rivalry via twitter this afternoon and firing up the Reds fans.

    http://twitter.com/miklasz

Among his tweets: "Bottom line? Cardinals got their tails kicked. As they say in baseball: wear it. (Some) Reds acting like clowns is nothing new."
"Laird and the Cardinals need to take care of this on the field. No need to yap from the dugout. And Cordero went too far at the end."

What does he want Coco to due?

To be fair to St. Louis, Cincy radio host Lance McAlister had some rather poignant tweets himself

    Nothing like a rivalry!

Went too far how, I ask? I saw angry words exchanged from a distance. If he was being threatened, as I heard, with a beaning, through absolutely no ill intention of his own, then his was an appropriate response.

Also, I have to wonder what kind of scenario the Cardinals are imagining in which closers bat. So much for baseball IQ.

Gerald Laird yelled out to Cordero after the game...."we'll get you when you bat against us later in the year".

Maybe if Prince Albert didn't stand on top of the plate he would be able to get out of the way.

There is no way Cordero was throwing at him intentionally unless Cordero is a moron and I don't think that is the case.

As the thread states - Cardinals continue to prove Phillips' point.

Carpenter said the poorly conditioned mound bothered him in the 1st and that lingering smoke from the homerun fireworks bothered him later in the game.

Lol it never ends with this guy.

Guess he must have issues with the Wrigley Field and Busch Stadium ground crews as he gave up 4 earned runs in each of his previous two outings coming in to today. Though Brandon Phillips could have said it with a little more class, it's never rang more true.

If he continues to pitch the way he has been he won't have to worry about the mound in the first inning as he will coming out of the bullpen as the long man. Nothing can be done about the smoke from the home run fireworks. He is just gonna have to suck it up on that point.

Isn't it great to be relevant.

Re: Every time we play the Cardinals, they prove Phillips' point

I'll never forget a game last year, Carpenter whining about the condition of the balls in Cincinnati. Standing between Home and the mound the umpire hands him ball after ball, with Carpenter rejecting them by firing them one after another in the direction of the ballboy. I couldn't believe Reds players didn't take offense with him firing baseballs in the direction of an un-protected kid. Carpenter showed his apparent ignorance and penchant to whine. Home team has nothing to do with the conditioning of baseballs. It's done pre-game by the Umpiring Crew.

Carpenter also complained about the conditions of the grass, saying it was hard to walk out to the mound because the grass wasn't cut just right.

He also complained that the Reds were hitting the ball too hard and someone might get hurt.

Wonder if that grass is why he didn't back up an outfield throw to 3'rd? Wnder if any of his teamates were waiting to yell at him after that inning, that he is making them look bad?
