Frank Pfister goes from Dayton to Louisville?

Did I miss something here? Not sure I've ever seen that jump before. Low A to Triple A. Can someone fill me in on why this happened? While I don't know any of his stats off the top of my head, I never though of him to be of the ability level to make such a jump or make it to the majors. Always saw him as a minor league depth player single a or double a ceiling. Thanks.

could have been moved to AAA b/c the view him as "expendable" and they're buying time until they can fill out the need in AAA like they like.

In some organizations, this often predates the player being released. Maybe it's done as a favor to the player, or maybe it's done to see if the player has any potential against more advanced competition. Then again, like medford said, maybe it's strictly a numbers game--Pfister could be filler until they fill the spot more permanently.

According to DDN via Google, he was placed right back in Dayton when Leake arrived.

Ugh. I've been waiting for this move and it's not on the MILB transactions. They need to step their game up.

I don't think Leake has been activated with the Bats yet. It should hit the transactions wire when he is.

It is pretty simple, Louisville needed a warm body and Dayton is close enough for someone to drive to. They sent a back up for Dayton to Louisville for the "just in case we have to empty our bench" so they didn't have to make a move with someone else. Happens quite often.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even make the drive (unless he was definitely there). Paper transactions can be funny sometimes. Dayton was PPD yesterday and off today. So they may have just selected a random guy that they may not need to use tomorrow if he's not back on the roster yet. I've been around teams that were 2 warm bodies short of a roster in AAA. That's when the lifelong LF org player all the sudden is at 3B. That's good stuff.

Pfister was sent down a couple of days ago. He mostly was the first base coach, and learned to catch. The reds did this with Jake Long last year and Brian Peterson the year before.

Pfister seems like a real "company guy". I don't blame him; just puts off the real world for a while longer.

Pfister was in the starting lineup for Dayton on Sunday (game was rained out). Frank was not actually on the Dayton roster when he went to Louisville. He had been taken off the roster a few days earlier when the Dragons activated Infante. Yes, Frank is a good guy, works very hard, deserved some reward for the work he put in.

There are 24 players on the Triple-A roster. Usually 12 of those are position players. You have 10-11 that you want in the lineup as much as possible. He was there to be a backup. He got three pinch hitting attempts in about three weeks or so.
