With Josh Smith pitching, Dayton is 0-0 in the fourth--hitless against Goodnight, who evidently follows Goodmorning and Goodafternoon in the Lake County rotation.

Being shutout by Goodnight, I can't imagine how they would look against Badnight.

I guess Willis gave up 3 runs on 2 hits in the 2nd, Norfolk still batting...

Edit: Looks like a wild pitch and a walk with one out led to the extra runs

Francisco singles in Negron after a Yonder walk. 3-2 top of 3rd

(not sure I'll be here all night, just sort of following along for a while, the Bats are more interesting than the big club at the moment I guess)

Francisco to 2nd on bad throw then a WP and Yonder wanders home from 3rd - 3-3 now.

Edit: Frazier homers 5-3 Bats. (Frazier is 2 for 2)

Todd Frazier just hit a 2-run HR, his 11th of the season. He's 2-for-2.

Bases loaded, one out. Castro is pinch hitting for DT. Still 2-1

Just look at the offensive numbers at AAA for Francisco, Alonso and Frazier. Everyone has his/her favorites. But all three deserve to be with the Reds and would add offensive spark.

Make Frazier a utility man who can even play some shortstop.

    Let Francisco back up Rolen.

    Let Alonso platoon in LF.

It would require dropping some of the current veterans. I think it's worth it to get some more spark into the major league ballclub.

Back to the scores and highlights. Sorry for the diversion.

3-1 lookouts. DJ in for the top of the 9th. Pitching out of the stretch again.

It would mean dropping Gomes and Cairo. Have to keep the SS and the back up catcher. So one of Heisey or Lewis would also have to go.

So, realistically, only two could come up.

Josh Smith kept his shutout for seven innings but gave up two runs in the eighth. He struck out 13 in 7.1 IP. Dayton trails 2-1 . . . Neither Hamilton nor Yorman is playing tonight.

Theoretically, Renteria could go too. Frazier could back up at shortstop as part of his utility duties.
