The Reds could improve, yes. But I think we've seen more than enough from Volquez and Gomes to know that they will not.

Walt, this is what you get when you rest on your laurels. Classic small market mentality. We won a division last year so things will just naturally get better.

No top starter, no LF, no SS. Same guys at AAA with no significant additions from the farm.

Status quo, while other teams were trying to improve.

I have no problem with how Walt handled the offseason. It's not even June yet and they're still 3 games over .500 with a loss today, so there's been no reason to panic. The team is still equipped to make a deal or two and I think by waiting, the FO has a clearer picture of exactly what this team's deficiencies are.

Have a little faith.

Isn't that pretty much what Walt said though? IIRC his main points were limited budget and a lot of young players who should improve from within. I think he also referenced a return to health from EV as his plan for the top of the rotation.

They will be lucky to be over .500 after this road trip. Especially the way they are playing right now.
