Let me make a case for hitters vrs a pitcher

First of all this in no way to vindicate or to say that EV was right in what he said about scoring more runs. It's just to say that he's right. Imo.

I think what people are missing in their mission to get more pitching is that there is something to be said about having an offense that can give a pitcher runs to work with early. Allowing your pitcher the confidence to be agressive with opposing hitters. An offense that puts pressure on the opposing offense forcing them to press in sitations where they know they must take advantage of the situations given to them. An offense that can extend a starters innings pitched by giving them a cushion that will ultimately take pressure off of the bullpen.

Listen im not saying this is the world's greatest rotation, but its good enough for this team to be successfull when given a real chance. Let's not diminish what adding a good or great bat could do for this team all the way around.

How about having pitchers that don't give up a boatload of runs in the first 2 innings, so the hitters don't have to constantly come from behind? The Reds have given up 43 first inning runs in 50 games. That's ridiculous.

We definitely could use a SS, but, it's not going to matter if starters 3-5 don't start performing better (Cueto and Bailey have been excellent, the rest, not so much)
