Plays at the plate are exciting but I don't think there is anything special about guys getting blind-sided. Maybe it's a bit reactionary, but I wouldn't mind if MLB imposed a catcher interference rule for blocking the plate combined with an automatic out for guys who try to bowl over a catcher when they have a clear path.
For all MLB's faults, at least they got it right with the DH. Maybe this could be a new rule.
