Between Soto, Ronda, and now Rosa, Reds love drafting Puerto Rican high school hitters in the top 3 rounds.

PROSPECT ON THE DECLINE: Gabriel Rosa, ss, Colegio Hector Urdaneta HS, Rio Grande. Rosa didn’t perform well at the Excellence Games, potentially costing himself a spot in the top three rounds, according to scouts.

    http://www.perfectgame.org/Players/P...aspx?ID=276343 - another link.

The link that says he is a CF/SS was last updated in 2010, fwiw. MLB is reporting that he likely will end up in a corner OF spot.

Quick google search mentions Rosa being a great SS. Yet MLB said he will be a corner outfielder.

I like the pick from a quick glance!

Between Rosa, Duran, Y-Rod, LaMarre, and Waldrop - Reds should have at least 2 starting OF to take over for Bruce and Stubbs five years from now.

Would've preferred to see another upside arm like Purke or Maples, but I'm willing to give this kid a chance. I like Puerto Ricans.

MLB also reported that he wants to play at the professional level and has no strong commitment to his college (Bethune-Cookman). Sounds like a good pick in terms of signability as well.

I am very, very surprised that they are going this young this early. WJ said that they were happy with the current state of the team, therefore allowing to go a little further out, but I was hoping for some more quicker to the show types.

    Oh well.

This same page ranks him under Tools as "Best Power" and says this

Long 6-4/180 build, future 3B/OF, 6.7 runner, big power potential, present strength, solid arm strength.

With Rosa, Duran, and Y-Rod, Reds could have the "Best of Carribean" OF in a few years(PR, DR, and Venezuela)

I will be happy if one becomes an above average MLB outfielder.
