JUSTIN AMLUNG SIGNS WITH REDS - Shortly after being named a CCBL All-Star, Justin Amlung (Louisville) left the Cape after signing a professional contract with the Cincinnati Reds who drafted him in the June MLB first year player draft.
Is today the deadline?
Kendall Rogers was kind enough to respond to my tweet regarding Stephenson...
@KendallRogersPG chances Stephenson signs with Reds? He has already taken a physical, that's gotta be a good sign...no?

@ @rbullardjr Someone told me 50-50 earlier this week, but I personally feel like Stephenson will sign by the deadline.
About two hours ago Amir Garrett Twittered that he was leaving to go to Cincinnati. I wonder why he would be doing that? Hmmm. curious.

No progress with Stephenson?
The Reds were not near a deal with top pick right-hander Robert Stephenson about eight hours from the deadline.
“We’re not any closer than we were yesterday or the day before,” Walt Jocketty said.
While Jocketty remains optimisitc that a deal will get done, he’s taking a bit of hard line.
“We’ve gone about as far as we’ll go,” he said. “They have to decide.”
Jocketty said the Reds won’t wait until the official deadline.
“I don’t want our guys sitting around till midnight waiting,” he said. “We’re going to give them an earlier deadline than that. I’m not sure when exactly it will be.”
Some top tier pitching talent coming into the organization.

I get nervous when a team signs guys drafted lower for big money.
It may mean they don't plan to sign their top pick. Instead, will use the bucks to pay over slot for lower level picks with ability.
Really excited about Amir Garrett...didn't think we'd get him.
He has a ton of potential, especially being a lefty but he'll be a long while until he hits the majors. Needs a lot of polish, essentially all he has right now is a fastball.
The Reds signed 23rd rounder Sal Romano for $450K, according to Kendall Rogers of Perfect Game USA (on Twitter). The Reds also signed 43rd rounder Ty Washington, according to Rogers (on Twitter). Callis reports that the second baseman obtains a $300K bonus (Twitter link).
Do we have confirmation on Garrett?
