I don't want to hijack this thread, but maybe you can start a new one with the question and evidence as to the guys you reference here? I think it could be a solid discussion.

Thanks for the feedback. This actually has me feeling a little better about the pick. I knew he had a good fastball like I said, but the way you articulated it has me not quite as down about the pick. (Still down, just not "as" down. Haha.)

But you have to admit (well you don't "have" to) ... one would expect a fourth-round pitcher from the college ranks to have put together at least one good season at the collegiate level. Or at the very least, one not-horrible season at the collegiate level. McMyne's stats were off-the-charts bad all three years at Villanova. Not what you'd expect from a fourth-rounder.

We'll see how he does at Billings this year and next year at Dayton. Shouldn't take too long to see what kind of pick this was.

BTW, can't stress enough how much I love that Cingrani pick in the third round. He just had another good outing for Billings (2.2 perfect IP, 4 K). Hasn't given up a run yet in three starts (total of 6.2 innings -- they are obviously keeping his pitch count waaaaaaaay down ... haha).

FYI: Ryan Wright grew up a Reds fan:

So, what the hell is taking so long again? We are talking about a fifth-round second baseman, right? This shouldn't be all that difficult to figure out.

EDIT: Make sure you watch the 2+ minute interview with Wright if you follow that link. Really intelligent kid and sounds like someone the Reds would want in their system. I see him as Dayton's secon******ger next year if he signs. That will be a nice, short drive down from Ft. Wayne for his family to see him play. Well, if they can get tickets of course. Ha.

I think I read in the Villanova press release stuff that McMyne had the 12th highest ratio of K's per 9 in the country this season. Not too shabby.

It is the only contract he is ever likely to sign of value. Make it count.

Good to hear. I really like the video of this kid, and I like his size.

Let's hope Rosa adds some juice to what is a somewhat uninteresting AZL offense (outside of Dailey, of course).

Rosa's body type reminds me of Alfonso Soriano.

Braves sign their first-round pick. Now #s 28 and 29 are signed.
