That there is a professional ballplayer's name if I ever heard one.

Anybody know anything about him? About 20 years ago I had some contact with Wes Covington, the only Milwaukee Brave, and he was living in Western Canada--might have been Vancouver. Vaughn Covington is from Vancouver. Gotta wonder.

I would love if he could develop into a Soriano with plate discipline and an interest in playing defense.

On the post above (since it's too late to edit) I meant Covington was the "old" Milwaukee Brave, not "only." Outstanding hitter.

I think Rosa's going to be a lot bigger than Soriano. He's listed at 6'4.

Vaughn Covington often goes by his middle name Mabone.
So if you google Vaughn Mabone you can find more info on him.

I agree, but just the way he carries himself, long legs, good power, good speed, infielder converting to outfield... a lot of similarities.

Thanks. Turns out that Wes Covington died just 11 days ago, on July 4. I found an obit and it lists grandchildren (actually, step-grandchildren), but no mention of Vaughn.

It was Edmonton where he lived and worked, not Vancouver.

23rd round pick Sal Romano will not be signing with the Reds. He has already enrolled to the University of Tennessee.

I posted this in the other database. Apparently Amir Garrett is on campus at St. Johns and according to the comments in this piece is taking a summer class. Can't tell if it an eligibility requirement.
    http://www.rumbleinthegarden.com/201...le-eligibility
Already on campus, judging by their tweets and the news releases: forward God'sGift Achiuwa. Forward Amir Garrett. Guard/ forward Sir'Dominic Pointer. Forward JaKarr Sampson. Guard Phil Greene.
Amir Garrett is also at Rise Academy...
    Taking a class this summer.
Oh and he twitters more often than Brandon Phillips would dream of doing.
