Bruce's and Cueto's Long Term Contracts...

How are they looking so far?

I asked Larry David, and he responded "prett-ay, prett-ay, pretty good".

Looks like Walt knew what he was doing... most notably in that we're not discussing Volquez' long-term contract!

    I like the a lot.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

And he didn't sign Volquez to an extension.

    Now the Arroyo extension....

Ok, kudos for signing them sure, but lets not forget he apparently TRIED to sign Volquez. But for the grace of Mother Baseball we'd be talking about his 'albatross' of a contract right now.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

    Looking pretty good.

I'd like to them lock up Stubbs next.

Hopefully this off-season they will do just that.

And hopefully Volquez gives them a reason to do as well for him.

Arroyo would have made more on the open market, his last five years are among the top 15 in BB.

He's pitched 200 innings 6 years in a row. He's also won 15 games in each of his last 3 years.

It's good that these 2 worked out, but Walt did little to nothing else to improve this team. We lose every tie game late. I miss Arthur Rhodes. Bringing back Gomes cancels out a lot of good too IMHO.

Walt has been at least 1 bad move for every Cairo he has found us or every extension that he has signed that worked out.

Arthur Rhodes has really not been very good in Texas.

    Three cheers for Walt!

He resigned some young talent that was already here before he became GM.

I'm still waiting for him to ADD some talented players to the roster.

    Bruce' deal is an A+.

4 years is a long time for a pitcher. I don't think anyone had any issues with year 1. Its too soon to say if years 3 and 4 at $7.4 Million and $10 Million respectively were a good idea.

Because Scott Rolen, Miguel Cairo,Mike Leake, and having the guts to bring Ondrusek north with the big club hasn't added talented players to the roster.
