This team is getting eaten alive by mediocre right handed pitching -Ivan Nova, Freddy Garcia, Brandon Morrow. Are you seeing a pattern here?
.250 BA against Right handers, .300 against lefties.

They need another lefthanded bat. Ryan Ludwick would not be worth the investment.

I hope not. I prefer someone better like Matt Kemp.

Opposing pitchers will just pitch around Votto to get to Ludwick. They wouldn't do that with Kemp.

The problem is that Rolen is a shell of his former self. Stubbs K's too much. Janish can't hit. Gomes has struggled badly.

This team needs a serious power hitting right handed hitter behind Votto.

    MATT KEMP PLEASE.

That problem could be solved if Stubbs and Gomes were strickly platooned. Rather than throwing out pie in the sky ideas that are never going to happen, or aren't worth the investment, lets bring up some left handed hitters from Louisville and start playing the percentages. Help may be just a phone call away.

Kemp would cost 5x as much as Ludwick and will also be a free agent next year that we can not afford. So we'd trade a ton more, and only get the same amount of time from the player.

I'm not buying that they need another LH bat. RH vs RH is simply not a big issue. Never has been in baseball. I would chalk those stats more up to circumstance in this case.

Ludwick would help, IMO. How much though? That's the big question. If this team makes a move, it needs to be for a big difference-maker.

ludwick sucks. we already have 3-4 guys btw minors and majors that can do what ludwick does or better.

if were gonna make a move it better be for a real difference maker like kemp, eithier, reyes, hardy.

Ethier and kemp are pretty much the only outfield bats id wanna trade for as they are clear improvements. the reds can improve LF by just dropping lewis playing heisy more, bring up sappelt or hermedia, and gomes can be a PH bat.

SS is dead position with no production that a guy like hardy could make a huge difference and not cost too much.

That's true, but you're comparing one of Gomes' best years with Ludwick's worst year since '07.

Not at the beginning of the year, but it's argueably his 2nd best season as a major leaguer..Ludwick had over 200rbi in 2 yr...Gomes has 200 over his last 5 or 6 yrs.
