While things were already unpleasant for Oregon, due to the uncharacteristic $25,000 payment for "recruiting services," they just got a bit more uncomfortable thanks to a new report by Yahoo!
This report includes quotes from Lyles on the nature of the payments, and now he's outwardly suggesting he was being paid for his "influence" on recruits. He has emails and signed thank-you cards to support his case.
It's not a slam dunk, but it absolutely makes the notion that the payment was for recruiting packages look more suspect than they already were. After all, the "package" of player profiles received by Oregon were all outdated and were of 130 players from Texas (remember they purchased the 'national' package).
