    Saturday 07/02/11 MiLB Updates

    Pedro Villarreal goes for Carolina tonight in the penultimate game of the six game series in Tennessee.

    There are several hitting streaks on the line tonight. Phipps and Soto extended their individual hitting streaks to 11 games last night, while Costanzo's stretched to 10.

    Villarreal in early trouble. An error has helped to load the bases. One out on a force at home.

    Villarreal escapes a major jam giving up only one run. Tennessee up 1-0 after one inning.

    Top of 3rd, Mudcats down 2-0. Villarreal is holding his own. Carolina has committed two errors and have zero hits.

    End of three, 2-0 Tennessee. Carolina has been very quiet so far.

    Chris Rusin is solid for the Smokies. Of 46 pitches, 31 have been strikes. Mudcats still looking for their first hit.

    End of five innings, 2-0 Smokies. The Mudcats are on MiLB.TV. For whatever reason, I'm able to watch some of the game tonight. .I think I was blacked out the other night.

    Nate Samson homers to put the Smokies up 3-0. If Carolina doesn't generate some offense this game is over.

    Dayton is up 2-1 after 4. Yorman Rodriguez is 2-2 with a double and 2 run HR. Corcino has allowed a run and has 4 strikeouts with no walks.

    Brett Jackson singles to right for Tennessee. David Cook throws to Grandal who tags out Flores at the plate to end the sixth inning. 3-0 Smokies.

    Chris Rusin is done for Tennessee. One hit in six innings. Beyond solid.
